Kenya tourist attractions-Homa Bay

All roads in Kenya are right now leading to Masai Mara game reserve for the annual great migration. It is rated as one of the best African safari tours. However if you just want a quiet weekend getaway, why not visit Homa Bay? It’s a great place for a Kenya vacation. With a well tarmac road from Kisumu you can be in Homa Bay in just over 2 hours a private vehicle. The signal that you are about to arrive in the South Nyanza town is the waters of Lake Victoria for Homa Bay is just by the lake.
Hotel rates are not expensive. You can stay in a double or twin room and pay between 1700 to 2500ksh (between $25 and $30) per person (which is top end) breakfast inclusive.
Homa Bay Tourist Hotel is a great place for a weekend getaway. It has rooms facing the lake which is a big plus. It  also has a large garden with a great view of lake Victoria  and mountains in the distance. You can relax in the garden anytime of the day and  listen to the sounds of the birds calling to each other as you enjoy your favorite food or drink. A meal goes for around kshs 450.
It’s great for children to run around and it even has a children’s only play area.
You can take a stroll to the pier not far from the hotel and get a closer look of the lake.
Homa bay is accessible from Kisumu by Public transport. If coming from Nairobi you can drive to  Kericho then Kisii then proceed to Homa Bay. The road from Kisii is very good.
A visit to Homa Bay for the weekend is a great safari trip for the family.
